About Mouth Guards
Mouth guards that are made-to-order by a dentist, like our dentists in Coppell, TX, can be used to defend the mouth while playing contact sports (i.e. hockey and football) or other sports that can involve injury (i.e. biking and skateboarding). In addition to shielding the teeth, jaw, and gums, using a mouth guards has also been proven to improve athletic performance by decreasing stress, which lessens the release of hormones that can constrain endurance, strength, and reaction time. Although store-bought mouth guards are cheaper, custom-made mouth guards from our dentists at Riverchase Dental Care are crafted from better quality supplies, fit more securely, last longer, and provide more protection, which can prevent expensive dental treatments.
"I’ve been coming to Riverchase for over 10 years. Some doctor and staff changes, but I remain extremely pleased with service, expertise, and very friendly bedside manner. I’m not a dentist fan, and pain is no friend either. They always explain the procedure thoroughly. If I’m a bit squeamish about procedure, I get the funny gas, and I’m not tense as a board and sore (from my tensing up). Great location too. I like everything about Riverchase Dental."- R.M. / Google / Nov 06, 2017

"I always love coming to Riverchase Dental. Dr. Joe, Adrianna, and the entire staff make a concerted effort to keep track of personal information about me and my family to maintain a good relationship. We always have fun, but most importantly, they do an excellent job of taking care of our teeth!"- D.O. / Google / Aug 21, 2017

To confirm the wear and fit of the guard is fine-tuned when needed, the patient should bring their mouth guard to each of their scheduled appointments at Riverchase Dental Care. With good use and care, a mouth guard can be kept as many as 5 - 8 years, but our dentists will examine the mouth guard frequently and help every patient determine when they need a new mouth guard.
A custom-made mouth guard is typically not covered by dental insurance plans, but Riverchase Dental Care will determine each patient's benefits and out-of-pocket expenses.
